CRATE

Terms of Service

Effective: June 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Crate desktop application and related services provided by Flux Code Studio ("we", "us", "our"). By downloading, installing, or using Crate, you agree to these Terms.

1. License Grant

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Crate on devices you own or control. A single license key entitles one natural person to use Crate on their own machines — there is no limit on the number of personal devices.

Receiving and restoring .crate packages is always free and requires no license. Packing (creating .crate packages) requires a paid license.

2. Free Receiver

The free Crate receiver allows anyone to unpack, restore, and verify .crate packages at no cost. No license key, account, or payment is required for receiving.

3. Purchases and Payment

License purchases are processed by Polar (polar.sh), our payment processor. By making a purchase, you also agree to Polar's terms of service. We do not store your payment card details.

A license is a one-time purchase that covers one major version of Crate. Future major versions may require a paid upgrade at a reduced price.

4. Refunds

If Crate does not work as described on your system, contact us at support@fluxcode.studio within 14 days of purchase. We will work with you to resolve the issue or issue a refund. Refund requests must include a description of the problem and your system details.

5. Intellectual Property

Crate, including its source code, design, documentation, and branding, is the intellectual property of Flux Code Studio. These Terms do not transfer any ownership rights to you.

Your audio files, session data, and .crate packages remain entirely yours. We claim no rights over content you process with Crate.

6. Acceptable Use

You may not:

7. Data and Privacy

Crate processes your files locally on your machine. We do not access, collect, or transmit your audio data. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

The optional auto-update check contacts GitHub to determine if a newer version is available. No personal data is transmitted in this request.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

Crate is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

While Crate uses SHA-256 verification to ensure bit-perfect file restoration, we do not guarantee against data loss. You are responsible for maintaining your own backups.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Flux Code Studio shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or revenue, arising from your use of Crate.

Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid for your Crate license.

10. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your license if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, you must cease all use of Crate and destroy any copies. Termination does not affect your ability to restore existing .crate packages using the free receiver.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of Crate after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.
